Regional Partnerships
FSK partners with neighboring councils and organizations to tackle wildfire risks that cross community boundaries. We collaborate on regional efforts like state Zone 0 rulemaking, evacuation planning, and shaded fuel breaks. We also partner on grants and support projects that strengthen East Bay resilience.
Volunteer Support
Kensington has grown from 4 to 23 Firewise Communities — thanks to District support and strong local leadership by our Preparedness Coordinator. A new CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) group has also formed. FSK supports these volunteers through training, shared resources, and coordinated outreach.
Education & Resources
We will keep residents informed about current wildfire information. This includes plans for expert talks, community events, and online resources. This includes a central source of Kensington-specific information so everyone can make confident, informed decisions about their homes and properties.
Targeting Local Fuel Reduction
Identifying risks, prioritizing action, and supporting solutions.
We're mapping high-risk vegetation across Kensington to understand where action is needed most. From there, we plan to work with homeowners, the District, fire officials, and partners like PG&E, EBMUD, and EBRPD to advance fuel reduction projects — large and small.
Building a Leadership Network
Neighbors helping neighbors prepare for community resilience.
Community Ambassadors are a new network of trained volunteers who support residents. They offer peer-to-peer educational home assessments, connect neighbors to resources, and promote defensible space and home hardening.
In January 2026, 13 Ambassadors earned Cal Fie Defensible Space Inspector certification. More training sessions are planned, and new volunteers are welcome. Get in touch if you'd like to join us!
